CMU & Jumbo Brick Single Wythe Walls

MTI’s Single Wythe Wall System works because it weeps the wall at the bottom of the core, controls the trash mortar, and separates the edge of the concrete floor from the base of the wall. Any water that may accumulate in core of block or run down inside of wall will pass by edge of floor and not onto floor.

MTI’s Single Wythe Wall System
It has several advantages over the traditional stepped base flashing. It does not create a shear plane at the base of the wall. It is well bonded to the foundation. The structural engineer will be happy. It does not interfere with placement of the rebar that the structural engineer usually places in the center of the wall. Since it uses typical block instead of two half-sized units, you avoid the problem of getting an off-color stripe at the flashing locations. (When blocks are manufactured at different times, you often get slight variations in color.)
